Review: On The Spot Trio @ The Mugshot 2/24

The music was a nice mix of original tunes that they had recorded with Alan Evans (Soulive) a few years back, as well as some well-received covers. From their album “Shag,” the band ripped original songs “Critically Acclaimed Shit,” “Jabo,” and “For 1.” Then they invited up Mary Corso (singer with the Eric Krasno Band), who provided vocals for “Kissing My Love,” the sexy Bill Withers original, “If You Want Me To Stay,” from Sly & The Family Stone, and three originals tunes they wrote together (“Losin My Mind”; “Follow Me”; and “Take You There”). Mary’s voice is both beautiful and sultry, reminding many in the crowd of legend Janis Joplin.
