On Monday night at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall, Bob Weir, Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads and Dumpstaphunk co-headlined “Get Down to Earth” a charity event for the Green Schools Alliance.

The event was billed as both “Get Down to Earth” and “The Champions of Change Gala.” The evening included a cocktail hour, auction, and awards presentation to the evening’s honorees included Bob Weir and Bill McGlashan, the founder and managing partner of TPG Growth and co-founder and CEO of The Rise Fund.

Green Schools Alliance is an environmental group who are on a mission to “nurture and fortify sustainable school communities.” and empower schools worldwide to lead the transformation to a sustainable future. According to their official website “Green Schools Alliance envisions a world where every person is aware of and accountable for the impact they have in creating an environmentally, economically, and equitably sustainable future.”

The standout moment of the evening was when Bob Weir and Dumpstaphunk collaborated on a cover of The Meters’ “Fire On The Bayou.” The last time we saw Bob Weir on stage with the members of Dumpstaphunk was during the epic sit in at Lockn’ during the Foundation of Funk set which saw Weir, John Mayer, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann –most of Dead & Company, sitting in with Ivan Neville, Ian Neville and Tony Hall. If you have not seen that phenomenal set, check it out here.
