The Nth Power, paris_monster, Chris Bullock Band & more Throw Down Sunday Night at Drom in NYC

On Sunday night, I went to DROM in the East Village for APAP’s Royal Artist Group Showcase. The eight-hour musical extravaganza included indy acts such as Nick Cassarino (solo), Natalie Cressman and Ian Faquini, Chris Bullock Band, Bob Lanzetti, Muscle Tough, John “Papa” Gros, Nth Power and paris_monster.

The night started off with a Nick Cassarino solo show. Nick is the lead singer of the Nth Power and he has been touring as a duo with Jen Hartswick as of late this past year.  I have known him for 8 years since before the Nth Power ever got together when he was touring with Big Daddy Kane.  He has been writing his own music and his falsetto and guitar playing have gotten to be so beautiful. I was truly moved by his solo set and song interpretations with included both covers and songs Nick wrote himself.

Margo Price Releases “Leftover” Music Video

Amazon has recently launched a collaborative series “Produced By,” which matches up artists and producers to create exclusive content for their users.   Through this series, Margo Price has recently released a music video for “Leftovers,” a new song created in conjunction with producer Matt Ross-Spang.

Brooklyn Comes Alive: “All Killer, No Filler”

This past Saturday, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, I can attest in fact that Brooklyn Came Alive. Allow me to explain, this year for the 4th year in a row Live For Live Music hosted this amazing single day event which sure felt a ton like Jam Cruise or New Orleans Jazz Fest. I say that because within about 8 square blocks in Williamsburg, musicians from the highest echelon of the jam scene got together, in formations they are not known to play in; like one-off supergroups, brand new band debuts and epic tribute sets. The three venues in Williamsburg chosen this year were Rough TradeMusic Hall of Williamsburg and Brooklyn Bowl. I can personally attest that the best part of the Brooklyn music scene revealed itself to me at each one of these unique venues over the 12-hour period I wandered around Williamsburg chasing the groove.

Ryley Walker, a Chicago-based experimentalist singer-songwriter has announced his next album, a cover of Dave Matthews Band’s fan favorite and the lost album The Lillywhite Sessions, will be released on November 16.

Dave Matthew’s Band recorded these tracks between 1999 and 2000 and the sessions with producer Steve Lillywhite were intended to serve as DMB’s follow-up to their third full-length, Before These Crowded Streets.
